The bottom line is that it really depends on the market and the application. Most guys like the flexibility of the V plow for both residential use and parking lots. When you really need to cut through thick snow, the V plow is favored to get the job done. But when you need to clear a big parking lot fast, the expandable box plow works best as long as the snow isn’t too thick.

“I like the V plow for s a lot better…the V plow is great for the drifting and cutting right through it, but they can also carry a lot of snow to finish up big parking lots.”

Dale Chestnut of Double D Services in Wisconsin

“The V plow definitely, I like more… it works for all aspects compared to the extended plow that’s just gonna be for a big parking lot. It doesn’t have functionality in a household driveway.”

Steve Jennings of Jennings Welding & Fabrication in New York

“We probably sell way more V plows than expanding box. The price point is just a little higher on the expanding box… the V plow seems to be the biggest seller in our area.”

Tod Bozer of Bob’s Service in Alaska

“Both plows are great plows but they have different applications. The V plow is a lot better for breaking open deeper snow and you can still scoop and carry a lot of snow… the expandable plow would be able to carry more snow, so if you are keeping up with your parking lot that would be the more efficient option.”
