If you’re in the market for a new snow plow, you might be questioning the type of plow that will work best for you and your business. While there are many great plow brands, we are going to look at Sno-Way and Boss snow plows in this comparison.

Sno-Way has developed the new Flared 29RVHD plow, a snow plow that combines the ease of a straight blade, the versatility of the V-Plow, and the snow-moving power of the box plow all in one tool.

When looking at the market, there aren’t many plows that directly compare to Sno-Way’s 29RVHD, but Boss has some very popular plows that have some similar features.

The Boss VXT snow plow is their classic v-plow product. It is their standard plow with a chainless hydraulic lift, designed to cover 81″ to 98″ with a blade height of 37″, with either a poly or stainless steel moldboard.

The Boss DXT snow plow is their upgrade package v-plow model, providing their patented Dual-Trip feature.

The Boss EXT snow plow is their offering for the expandable plow market, with expansion capabilities between 8-10 feet. The expandable wings of this straight plow are fully hydraulic and are pitched forward for better roll.

All three of these come standard with their SL3 lighting package. The upgraded versions have feature options available, such as the Boss D-Force feature, which improves back-dragging performance using downforce.

The Sno-Way Flared 29RVHD

Contracting jobs are seldom a straight and easy job. Complicated turns, snug corners that need a special configuration and long, wide spaces are typical in many snow jobs. While the Boss snow plows are great, they are three different plows that can only adapt to a limited number of configurations. On the flip side, the Sno-Way Flared 29RVHD can configure to all those tight, complicated spaces, resulting in a more efficient plow.

Built for 3/4 ton through the Class 5 work trucks, this powerhouse comes with everything. At its heart, it is a classic V-Plow, but in reality it is so much more. It boasts a 10-foot wide straight blade configuration, which makes short work of the widest parking lots. With just a small change using the controller from the warmth and safety of your cab, your straight plow can move into a “V” or “Inverted-V” configuration. Another push of a button and your V-Plow can transform into a box plow!

The unique construction of the 29RVHD Series 2 snow plow allows users to utilize each of the strengths of all three plow styles. Sno-Way first started with the classic V-Plow, with its double-acting wing cylinders. This design is strong and practical, giving you maximum force in both the forward and back hydraulic positions.

Then the patented hydraulic end wings were integrated into each flared wing. This expanded the span of the blades while in straight or “V” formation. Independent hydraulic cylinders were added so that you can move each wing to your desired configuration. This allows you the flexibility to make your plow into whatever configuration you need for the job!

The Flared 29RVHD is three plows in one! It’s easy to see how this is the perfect snow plow for the money.

A Side-by-Side Comparison

We take a look at some of the best features from both Sno-Way and Boss to see how they are similar and different.

Hydraulic Pressure

Sno-Way’s Down Pressure®

Sno-Way’s patented Down Pressure® snow plow hydraulics is by far the ultimate snow removal equipment upgrade and only Sno-Way has it. Sno-Way’s Down Pressure® snow plow hydraulics allows you to scrape or back drag more snow in less time resulting in 30% more efficiency.

BOSS’s D-Force

D-Force improves scraping performance while backdragging by maintaining a consistent hydraulic down force powered by a hydraulic accumulator.

Plow Coatings

Sno-Way’s Triple-Coat Protection

The Triple-Coat Protection starts with a zinc phosphate wash to prevent corrosion. Next an automotive E-Coat primer is added to penetrate into the metal to keep rust from starting. The plow is finished with a coat of military grade powder coat for a tough exterior.

BOSS’s Smart Shield

Made to last the SmartShield paint system delivers superior corrosion protection and a long-lasting, high-gloss shine.

Plow Trip Protection

Sno-Way’s Shock-Killer

Sno-Way’s patented Shock-Killer trip return system protects you from the jolting effects of the full moldboard trip when hitting an obstacle. This system not only protects you, it also protects your equipment from the force of the return.

BOSS’s Dual-Trip

Patented dual trip technology combines both a trip-edge and full moldboard trip system offering dual trip protection from obstacles like manhole covers to frozen snowbanks.
