William Fries, with Xtreme Fabrication, is a premier snow and ice dealer and he shares a couple tips on how to be successful in the snow and ice business. Firstly, a great dealer needs to be open 24 hours when it snows. If your dealer is not open and you break a plow part at 3am, that dealer just lost a customer to a dealer that is open and can fix the problem. You want to be able to rely on your dealer when issues arise, it makes for a great relationship.

Secondly, if you are a dealer, you should make sure you have parts and a lot of different parts in stock. Many dealers just stock the bare essential parts, but should stock more of the major components to help customers get back up and running quickly.

Lastly, dealers need to make sure to take care of any warranty items. Warranty is generally a loss leader for a lot of dealers, because they don’t want to pay a lot of money for the warranty work. But if you want your customers to come back again and again, you need to take care of them.

Hopefully these tips help you to become a great dealer and have a successful snow season!
