Does Your City Clear Your Sidewalk of Snow and Ice? Syracuse Will!!

Syracuse officials today announced a plan to clear snow from sidewalks in busy areas, including those along the city’s high-traffic arterials.

The city will clear snow from 20 miles of sidewalks this winter, including most of James Street, South Salina Street and West Genesee Street.

The plan is a breakthrough for city officials and lawmakers, who have wrestled for years with how to better clear sidewalks and enforce weak snow removal laws. City residents and advocates have long sought for a solution to the snow-covered walkways that often force pedestrians to walk in the street or trudge through mounds of snow and slush.
