Review of the Fisher Stainless Steel V-Box Spreader

Mike Stevens of Snow Plow News talks to Andy McArdle of Fisher Engineering about their new Stainless Steel V-Box Spreaders.

With the introduction of the “Steel Caster” line of durable Stainless Steel V-Box spreaders, Fisher has eliminated its old line of steel spreaders. While in many ways the spreaders share some of the same qualities of the earlier lines, the new options and features are really what set these new spreaders apart from what has come before from Fisher Engineering.

To start off with, Fisher has moved from 2 different drive options to three. You can get the dual hydraulic, the gas engine, or the dual electric drive systems for these new spreaders.

We expect the swing away shoot on these spreaders, but the Fisher Engineers put in a new baffle system to ensure the product you are spreading hits the spinner just right for the spread pattern you are looking for. You may know the swing away shoot makes storing, transporting, and emptying more convenient so, as they say, don’t leave home without it.

The new electrical means a new controller that comes complete with self-diagnositics, LED back lighting, and accessory buttons for easy operation of your unit while still giving you the precise control you want with your salt application.

We noticed their deflector, or their circular shutter deflector to be specific, which is meant to help limit the spread pattern when you are spreading near objects you do not want salt application on.

The shutter deflector is easy to use, just pull the spring pin, move the deflector, release the spring pin, and you are off and running. You can be fully open, or have a spread pattern to the right or the the left. The design of this deflector is supposed to eliminate excess material buildup and spill over in how it works together with the spinner.

These spreaders come in the popular 7, 8, 9, and 10 foot lengths with capacities of 1.5 cubic yards all the way to a full 6 cubic yards.

The folks at Fisher Engineering are excited about what they have done to renew their v-box line up and we hope you are pleased with the results.
