Plows for 1/2 Ton Trucks
½ ton trucks, also known as light-duty full-size pickups, are the most popular in the pickup truck category. These trucks have a wide range of uses, one being snow removal. Generally ½ ton trucks are used for smaller snow removal jobs such as personal and small commercial driveways, parking lots and spaces. Due to this being a light-duty truck, not just any plow will work, pairing the right plow with your truck is a must.
With so many quality plows on the market for ½ ton trucks, finding your perfect match can be a daunting task. Luckily, Snow Plow News has developed a plow comparison tool that allows you to search plows specific to your type of truck with the click of a finger. With this tool, you can compare different plow types, sizes, and brands to make your purchasing decision a breeze. Take a look below for an in-depth look at this time-saving tool.
Go to snowplownews.com
Click on the Compare Plows tab in the navigation bar at the top of the page.
The left side of the screen houses the search tool. Here you select Current Models in Availability and ½ Ton Truck in Truck Size. This will narrow the search to plow that specifically fit ½ ton trucks and are current models for each manufacturer.
To narrow the selection of plows even further, select the type of plow you are looking for.
Straight Plows generally cost less than V-Plows and are easier to operate.
V-Plows feature two independently controlled blades that come together in the shape of a V, giving the plow its name. This blade can be used in a straight, angled, V or scoop position. These plow types provide versatility and more control because the pivot point is in the middle of the blade, allowing the driver to select the right angle to direct the snow.
Expandable Plows are straight plows that have expandable wings on the right and left side to move more snow efficiently.
Select your preferred Blade Width
½ ton trucks are generally used for smaller jobs, so blades that are 8-feet long or smaller work perfectly for this sized truck. You may want an 8-foot plow if you have a longer wheelbase truck – this would ensure you push the snow far enough out when turning.
Select a specific plow Brand or select all brands to see all of your options.
See the results!
Plows that fit the search criteria you entered will now appear on the screen. If you want to learn more detailed information about your selected plows, simply click each plow and it will be saved at the top for comparison. When ready to compare the plows click compare. As seen in the example below a detailed specification list will be automatically generated for your review, with manufacturer brochures, promotional videos, and our rating of each type of plow.
