Sno-Way 29VHD Flared Wing V-Plow

Sno-Way 29VHD V Plow Snowplow

Outstanding V-Plow

The 29VHD is a flared-wing Vee plow with features and benefits that are not matched in the industry. This top of line V-Plow is 8ft wide and includes double acting wing cylinders. These double acting wing cylinders give contractors max force in the forward or back position. If the features of the plow aren’t enough, the 29VHD is eye-catching and draws positive attention. Get the job done with an exceptional looking V-Plow.

Shock Killer™ Trip Return System

While V-Plows are infamous for having obstacle tripping difficulty, the Sno-Way 29VHD V-Plow handles obstructions with ease utilizing a patented Shock Killer™ Trip Return System which reduces blade return shock to the truck and the driver.

Strong V Plow with Less Weight

Sno-Way pays attention to even the smallest details to be sure operators can maximize performance and efficiency. The tube steel tab-slot and lock construction ensure component fit and proper welding while the pre-drilled top rail allows the contractor to easily add the E-Z Fit Deflector in under a minute.

Electrical Connectors that don’t Corrode

The EIS™ – Energy Interruption System is a standard plug-and-play electrical system on this snowplow providing downtime reduction and limiting corrosion.

E-Coated just like your truck…

Superior Paint for Corrosion Resistance is achieved through a Triple-Coat Protection System; zinc phosphate wash, automotive E-Coat primer, and military-grade powder coat combination. The Triple-Coat Protection System delivers a surface that is resistant to penetration by salt, sand, stones, or any other aggregate material.

What Makes Volvo Machines Different?

Volvo Motor Grader Snowplow

Volvo Motor Grader Features

Besides the name, what makes Volvo motor graders different from other snow and ice equipment manufacturers? It starts with the transmission. Volvo gives you a choice of either a standard 8-speed or an optional 11-speed transmission that will give you lower gears for fine grading applications and higher gears for times when faster speeds are important in any of their seven motor graders.

Front Transmission

Unlike competitors, Volvo also mounts their transmission in the front of the machine under the cab ahead of the articulation joint for easier serviceability and better balance. This transmission placement gives Volvo motor graders more weight in the front for better down pressure and productivity when plowing snow.

Greater Visibility

Volvo motor graders also come with larger windows and more glass for greater visibility than competitors along with a standard rearview camera for even greater safety and productivity.

Easily Expanded

Need to add more than one attachment? No problem! Volvo gives its machines two auxiliary functions standard to add attachments to and the ability to add up to five additional hydraulic circuits for additional attachments. So overall you can have up to seven additional circuits straight from the factory installed on Volvo motor graders.

Separated Cooling System

Volvo motor graders have a very unique cooling system in the rear of the machine with hydraulic coolers on one side and the engine radiator is on the other side. This means there is no stacking or risk of contamination, and it’s also easier to clean the filters for good airflow.

Lifetime Warranty

Above all, Volvo is the only manufacturer of construction and snow removal equipment that offers a LIFETIME warranty on the frame, the articulation joint, and the articulation pins so you can be assured that your Volvo equipment will stand the test of time.

Why all SnowDogg Plows are 304 Stainless Steel

SnowDogg by Buyers VXFII Stainless Steel Plow

ALL 304 Stainless Steel Snow Plows – Why?

Choosing a plow company is one thing, but choosing the material you want your plow built with is another important decision contractors need to make. The moldboard material determines the durability, repairability, and cost. Most companies offer painted steel or polyethylene moldboards, and a few have 304 stainless steel options available too. But as of today, the only company we know of that offers 304 stainless steel plows for every application is SnowDogg by Buyers.

Buyers Products has been manufacturing work truck equipment since 1946. They know exactly what it takes to make the best snowplows, and here is what’s interesting: SnowDogg snow plows only come with a stainless steel blade. Why? SnowDogg by Buyers only uses stainless steel so the plower does not have to decide between good, better, or best – stainless is best. Stainless steel is the mark of excellence in many industries and this is especially true in the snowplow industry. Watch a dealer review of Snowdogg plows online to see what they like best about SnowDogg.

The advantages of stainless steel snowplows include:

Are Stainless Steel Plows More Expensive?

With other plow manufacturers, yes. Especially moldboards made with 304 stainless steel. In fact, 304 stainless steel is usually about three times the cost of carbon steel, which is commonly used by most plow manufacturers. However, in most cases, Buyers sells their 304 stainless steel plows for less than most carbon steel plows.

How?

Buyers purchases more 304 stainless steel than all other snow management manufacturers combined! Their enormous factory runs year-round making more than just plows with stainless steel. They also make salt spreaders, snow pushers, truck inserts, toolboxes, towing equipment, lighting products, truck and trailer hardware, cargo equipment, and much more. This gives them incredible raw material buying power that keeps costs down for customers.

In addition, they produce a 304 stainless steel snowplow system for less than the competition because the entire company is dedicated to vertical integration. They combine almost one million square feet of production that includes steel, stainless, aluminum, rubber, rotational molding, and powder coating.

It also helps that over the years, Buyers has made the necessary acquisitions to be sure the family business was in control of their own destiny, yet they hold no debt. This means that their pricing is based exclusively on manufacturing and delivery cost and does not need to include debt interest. Buyers recently announced they will be growing again and adding roughly 280,000 sq. feet of warehouse and distribution space, giving them even more options for growth.

304 Stainless Steel Snowplow Engineering

Does SnowDogg by Buyers Engineer Their Own Snowplows?

You bet they do! Buyers Products employs a team of over 25 experts in their Engineering, Product Testing, and Product Management areas. This leads to a robust development and maintenance platform resulting in excellent products. Their team ensures that SnowDogg plows are built to meet the demands of the market and that they are constantly improving their designs, manufacturing processes, materials, and products. They aren’t making their profits by manufacturing cheap parts in foreign countries. SnowDogg plows and all Buyers Products are engineered, manufactured, and assembled in the USA.

304 Stainless Steel Plows for Every Truck

SnowDogg by Buyers doesn’t just have a couple of 304 stainless steel options. EVERY plow they make comes in 304 stainless steel, and they make a bunch! Here are the current trucks they make plows for and there are even different plow types for each vehicle:

Sno-Way Classic 8 Foot V-Plow for Half-Ton Trucks

Sno-Way V Plow for a Half Ton Truck

Only one company in the Snow and Ice Industry makes 8 foot v-plows for 1/2 ton trucks and that is Sno-Way. In the last few years a few companies have launched a v-plow for 1/2 ton trucks. This makes sense as 1/2 ton trucks are among the most popular vehicles (let alone trucks) in the US.

The challenge with producing a v-plow for 1/2 ton trucks is there is too much weight hanging off of the front end. Most people just opt for a straight blade or a straight blade with wings, but Sno-Way is really trying to wow the 1/2 ton market with a v-plow and their “Revolution” plow (a plow that uses hydraulics to utilize adjustable wings).

What Sno-Way does differently than everyone else is use Grade 50 and Grade 80 steel which takes less steel yet provides the same strength that the cheap steal other manufacturers use. It is this stronger steel that allows Sno-Way to build an 8 foot wide v-plow that doesn’t break your truck.

This v-plow comes with the Down Pressure system, which adds 200 pounds of down force on the cutting edge. This is essential for back-dragging comes or maintaining control while you are trying to quickly clear a lot. You can use their integrated programmable controllers to work your plow and spreader from the one-handheld controller with your favorite settings programmed into the system.

The product line you see here is called the Classic Series and is currently available through all Sno-Way dealers.

You can find a Sno-Way Dealer here.

Storm Alert for Mid-Atlantic and Northeast – 12/16/2020

12.16.20 Storm Alert from Snow Plow News

Winter Storm Gail – Impactful Nor’easter

It’s “go time” for snow contractors in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast! A snowstorm like this hasn’t been seen in years. It’s being called Winter Storm Gail now and this system tracked just like Neoweather predicted. It dropped 1-5 inches and up to 10 inches in the Central and Southern Plains over the past 72 hours and now it’s on its way northeast.

Today starts off with widespread light snow in the Ohio Valley. That won’t be very impressive until it hits the colder air from the coastal low in the East tonight. Once it does that there will considerable snow in Pennsylvania and ice and sleet in Washington DC, New Jersey, New York City, and surrounding areas. The swath of the heaviest snow (up to 2 feet) is expected to fall over Easter Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, and up into New England.

Once that system heads out to sea some snow showers will kick up once again in the Ohio Valley from the upper-level lows spinning around, but nothing significant. There will also be an unrelated system in the Rockies bringing some new snow to that area. The rest of the country will be quiet after the storm.

Snow Intensity Map

The red areas are considered “major” snow intensity areas, but the real extreme snowfall will be in the purple areas. The purple areas will get historically high snowfall amounts.

Winter Storm Gail Map from Snow Plow News

After Winter Storm Gail

Once Gail moves through, most of the country will remain pretty quiet. There will be some cold blasts that come down from Canada into the Northern states, but not much in the way of snow is expected from that aside from some lake effect snow. Above-average warmer air is expected to push in Tuesday until around Christmas when things will get much colder again.

12/14/20 Forecast: A Couple of Feet of Snow Coming!

12/16/2020 Weather Map Showing Snowfall in NE from Neoweather

Bigtime Snow is on the Way!

Well, it’s looking like there be a strong possibility of a white Christmas for the Northeast. Starting today, a disorganized system starts to pop up throughout the Rockies that will get organized and dump up to 2 feet in some areas of the Northeast later this week! If you are east of Ohio and north of Virginia, it’s time to beef up your crews and prep your plows for some heavy snow.

There are actually two systems on the way. The first system swipes the Ohio Valley, then a stronger system brews up over the coast. Cold air is waiting in the Northeast and New England to translate the moisture into heavy snow when the systems get in their grasp.

The Storm’s Expected Path

The storm is expected to come from the Rockies, but swoop south, then north into the Northeast. As it hits the colder air, things get interesting. See the track below.

12/16/20 Snow Storm Map from Neoweather
12/17/20 Snow Storm Map from Neoweather
12/18/20 Snow Storm Map from Neoweather

Snowfall Forecast

After the heavy snow comes through, more snow showers will follow in their path behind the main areas of precipitation. All of the different weather models have been in agreement for this one over the past several days, so we’re placing strong confidence in the Northeast getting hit with about 16-24 inches of snow in the heart of the storm, with 6-16 inches on the edges. Outlying areas will see 2-4 inches widespread. Neoweather has less confidence in where the snow line will be and how much they will get near the coast and in Indiana and the Ohio Valley. Along with heavy snow in the center of this storm, 20-30 mph wind gusts and drifting are expected so be careful out there!

The Main Advantages of a Sno-Way V Plow

Sno-Way 29 VHD V Plow

Sno-Way V Plow Key Features

If you are considering buying a V plow, this post is for you. Tom Brewer from Sno-Way, International gives you the rundown on what he sees as the top advantages of buying a Sno-Way plow. We caught up with him recently to see what he had to say.

What makes the Sno-Way V plow stand out from the rest?

Well, according to Tom Brewer from Sno-Way International, it’s things like the fact that it comes standard with double-acting wind cylinders and full blade trip design. It also comes standard with 250 pounds of downforce on the cutting edge for effective and efficient scraping both forwards and backward. And not to be forgotten, it comes with a nice wireless control that creates less clutter in the cab.

Sno-Way V Plow Wireless Controller

It’s crazy to think of all the patented technology built into the Sno-Way V Plow. Here’s a look:

  • Ground Hugger™ blade design for down pressure with an aggressive 65-degree cutting edge attack angle.
  • Down Pressure® snow plow hydraulics is the ultimate snow removal equipment upgrade and exclusive to Sno-Way. Our patented hydraulics make you 30% more efficient.
  • EIS™ Wiring System has a quick plug-and-play design that reduces installation and downtime. It also uses military-grade connectors that keep moisture out to eliminate corrosion.
  • Exclusive Tab-Slot and Lock construction makes the structural components link fully together for a plow that’s meant to last.
  • MaxADJUST™ Leveling System uses a simple hex bolt to adjust the V-Wing moldboard tilt forward or back for easy cleaning and better performance.
  • Patented Drive-In Mounting system with hydraulic assist is the first design in the industry that allows the driver to control the movement of the plow without standing between it and the vehicle.

Sno-Way UTV V-Box Spreader

Sno-Way V Box Spreader

Convert UTV Broadcast Spreader to Drop Spreader in Seconds!

Sno-Way has been manufacturing snow and ice removal products for UTVs for several years now, and one of the things they ensure is versatility so their spreaders can handle as many situations as possible. Their RVB spreaders already spread anything that can be spread on ice without getting clogs or air pockets.

Their awesome drop spreader hood for the UTVs allows a UTV to quickly switch from drop spreading to broadcast spreading. This option is great for places with a lot of pedestrian traffic. You can use the drop spreader to put down salt in a very narrow footprint like a standard sidewalk. You can then go to broadcast spreading to cover pedestrian boulevards, drivable alleys, and other wider pavement areas.

You can get the UTV version of the Sno-Way poly v-box spreader in a 10 or 500 cu. ft. size. Since the spreader is poly, the body is not going to rust, and it reduces the weight you put on the UTV.

Ultra-Fast Conversion

The hood is extremely fast to change over from a drop spread configuration to a broadcast spread configuration. With the Sno-Way spreader controller, you can have a high degree of precision in how you drop material with extreme ease of use, including controlling the optional vibrator kits and light kits. It is the same controller used on the larger truck spreaders, giving you the added benefit of keeping controls the same across vehicles, making life easier for everyone.

Prevents Spilling of Material

Another neat feature is the brushes that prevent spillage while driving where you don’t need to spread material. When you keep more material in your spreader, you are dumping less salt where it doesn’t belong and saving money. The spillage saving brushes can save you a ton of money if you are spreading expense material, like calcium chloride.

Sno-Way UTV Spreader Hood Video

Snow Plow News met up with Terry Wendorff, President of Sno-Way Intl., at the SIMA show to hear more about the Sno-Way UTV spreaders. Watch the video to hear what Wendorff has to say.

The hood is an ingenious addition to the Sno-Way spreaders for UTVs. You can check out more information about the Sno-Way UTV v-box spreader on their website.

12/2/20 Forecast: The Big One Hit Out East!

12.2.20 Weather Map

Major Lake Effect Snow

We were watching for big snow potential from the extremely cold temps and moisture system as it moved over the Great Lakes and it came through on Tuesday. Some areas saw up to a foot of snow. This system is expected to slowly move east and huddle around the Great Lakes bringing as much as 20 inches to the highest elevations and small pockets. Most areas will see snowfall totals of more like 4-8 inches.

The system broke out over the Great Lakes and the Ohio Valley on Tuesday morning, stretching as far south as West Virginia. The “cyclone” pattern we talked about last week is happening where a swirl of pressure is bringing the warm air on the east coast up into the north where it’s becoming very cold, then that cold air is pushing down over the warm waters of the Great Lakes and producing major snow.

Cyclone of Cold Air & Pressure: It Happened!

12/2/2020 Cyclone of Pressure

The upper-level energy shows a huge dip and rotation sending the warm, moist air north and bringing down the cold air over the Great Lakes causing big-time snow.
